Recent Additions
In my 45 years of collecting tackle there have been months when I made several additions to the collection of whatever type of tackle I was collecting at the time and there have been times when I have gone several months without adding a single thing. With that in mind, here are my “recent” additions …which may have been acquired yesterday or several months ago. When it comes to collecting, “recent” has a lot of latitude.

This Felix Balbo Pocket Bottle Is Marked “19″ In Three Places.

This Size 3-1/2 Reel Is 2-1/4″ in Diameter And Constructed Of Nickel Silver & Hard Rubber With An Aluminum Spool And Foot

This Carrie Stevens Size 2 “Witch” Streamer Has Been Authenticated By Author And Renowned Carrie Stevens Expert, Graydon Hilyard.

The Larger Reel Is Marked “Kelly, Dublin” And Dates From The Early 1800s To About 1850. Note Both Reels Were Used With Horse Hair Lines.

The L. Levy “Astor Reel” Was Made By US Net & Twine. Circa 1904. This Is One Of Few Known Examples Of Levy Reels.

The Talbot “Ben Hur” Fly Reel Was Made In Two Sizes: The Model 100 (2-1/8″) And The Model 101 (2-1/2″). This Example Is A Model 100.

Redifor’s Patent 820,326 Is For A “Protected Handle On A Fly Reel”, Which Kept The Line From Fouling

The 1926 Ad Copy For This Delightful Gadget Reads “…A Trout Fly Can Be Threaded To Gut In The Dark With The Aid Of This Useful Article.”

It Actually Works Quite Well. Sold By The Army & Navy Cooperative Society And Called The “Eyed Hook Threader.”
