This Wonderful Piece Is A Hand Painted Porcelain Shaving Blade Holder For Used Blades. The Piece Stands 2.5″ Tall And The Back Is Stamped “Made For Abercrombie & Fitch Co. By The Trenton Potteries Co.”. The Artist Is Cyril Gorainoff, A Russian/American Who Opened A Small Gift Shop On Madison Avenue In New York City In The 1920′s. These Are Very Rare.

- While I Do Not Know The History Behind This Piece, I Have Seen Enough Of Them To Suspect They Were Factory Items

This Stunning Folk Art Lure Is Just 2.25″ Long And Is Carved From Ivory. Note How The Maker Fashioned A Single Piece Of Brass For The Line Tie And Dorsal Fin. The Hook Holder Passes Through The Body, Creating Pectoral Fins And The Eyes Of The Hooks Cleverly Mimic The Eyes Of A Minnow. The Maker Was As Talented A Craftsman As An Artist.

A Rare Anglers Club of New York Cigarette Lighter, By Zippo. The Date Code On The Lighter Is 1967. Zippo Began Date Coding Their Lighters In 1958.

One Side Of An H.A. Whittemore & Co Celluloid Letter Opener. Whittemore Was In Business From The Late 1800s To The Early 1900s. Whittemore Was A Major Seller Of Kosmic Tackle.

A 3.25″ Scrimshaw Fish Carved In Bone. Appears To Show Good Age. The Carver Picked A Nice Piece Of Bone As The Coloration Lends Itself Well To The Likeness Of A Fish.

I’ve Always Been A Fan Of Royal Doulton’s “Izaac Walton Ware”, Which Features Their “Gallant Fishers”, But Never Collected It Because The Pieces I Found Were Large And Consisted Mostly Of Plates, Bowls, Pitchers And Large Serving Pieces. This Is An Example Of Patience Having Paid Off As I Recently Found What Is Most Likely The Smallest Piece They Ever Created …At Just 2.25″ Tall This Pattern Was Likely Used To Hold Toothpicks Or Match Sticks. The Willow Tree Border Dates This Piece To The Early 1900s.

The Beaverkill-Willowemec Rod & Gun Club Was Incorporated In 1948 by Fred Ackerly, Walt Bock And Harry Darbee, With The Main Intent Of The Organization Being The Prevention Of Damming Catskill Streams. This License Plate Topper Is From The Early 1950s.

The Kosmic Brand Was Initially Created By A.G. Spalding In The Early 1890s And Was Then Purchased By U.S. Net & Twine A Few Years Later. In 1901 The Brand Was Sold To H.A. Whittemore & Company, Also Known As “Hawco”, Of Boston.

This Pike Stone Measures 2″ by 3″. Note The “Compliments Of” At The Top Of The Stone …Meaning These Were Free Samples.

The Pattern On This Early Oiler Has Also Been Seen On Match Safes, Spinners And A Fly Reel By John Kopf. I Am Yet To Discover Who Made The Metal, But The Spinners And The Reel Are Known To Have Originated In New York.

The Iver Johnson Sporting Goods Company Was Founded In 1900 And This Ruler “Trout Gauge” Was Patented In 1906
